"Preview of Roman Reigns and Becky Lynch animated film “Rumble” to premiere January 2021"

PEOPLE has an exclusive first look at Paramount Animations’ Rumble, set to hit screens on January 29, 2021. The image shows just how high-stakes this unique form of wrestling is, with a huge but cuddly-looking monster casually leaning back onto the ring while towering over the humans below.

Will Arnett plays that huge monster, Steve, who is being trained to become an unstoppable wrestler.

“I’m excited to be part of this really fun movie,” Arnett, 49, tells PEOPLE. “It’s a great, positive story in a time when we need to hear more positive stories.”

The movie’s synopsis gives another glimpse into this world. Paramount Animations teamed up with WWE Studios for the film.

“In a world where monster wrestling is a global sport and monsters are superstar athletes, teenage Winnie seeks to follow in her father’s footsteps by coaching a lovable underdog monster into a champion,” the synopsis reads.

The movie also stars Terry Crews, Geraldine Viswanathan, wrestler Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i, Tony Danza, Becky Lynch, Susan Kelechi Watson, Stephen A. Smith, Jimmy Tatro, Ben Schwartz and Michael Buffer

Roman Reigns previously appeared in Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw as one of the cousins of Dwayne Johnson’s character.

Arnett, who has a recognizable deep voice, has plenty of voice acting credits to his name.

His memorable roles include voicing Batman in The Lego Movie and its sequel as well as his own spinoffs, The Lego Batman Movie and the upcoming sequel. He also starred as the title role in Netflix’s BoJack Horseman and 2018’s Teen Titans GO! To the Movies.

Arnett currently also serves as host of Fox’s new hit show Lego Masters

"Hobbs & Shaw: Who is Roman Reigns? The professional wrestler is a new Fast & Furious favorite | EW"

Whether you’re Team Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), Team Shaw (Jason Statham), Team Hattie (Vanessa Kirby), or Team Justice For Han (Sung Kang), there’s something for everyone in the first Fast & Furious spinoff film Hobbs & Shaw. Okay, well maybe not everyone, as Justice For Han still hasn’t been served (although it’s been promised that’s it’s coming in the future). But there’s definitely a lot to love in the latest Fast franchise installment. From insane set pieces to adrenaline-infused action sequences, hilarious one-liners to surprising cameos, Hobbs & Shaw is a non-stop thrill ride from beginning to end. There are so many amazing new characters to welcome into the Fast family fold like Kirby and Idris Elba’s Brixton. But there’s one face you may not recognize in the film that absolutely deserves your attention. continue reading

"WWE star Roman Reigns shares how ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ inspired him to reach for more | Rollingout"

Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw is more than a movie for WWE star Roman Reigns. It’s a culturally rich experience to share with the world.

Reigns, aka Leati Joseph “Joe” Anoaʻi, appears on TV weekly as one of WWE’s biggest stars, but the transition from a superhuman in the ring to film actor wasn’t as easy as a phone call. Despite his WWEconnection to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Reigns had to audition for the role of Mateo, not to mention perform the film’s rigorous stunts without the aid of a semi-soft canvas and ring ropes.

Ahead of the film’s wide release on Friday, Aug. 2, 2019, Reigns sat down with rolling out to discuss sharing his Samoan culture on the big screen and how filming changed him.

There are a lot of “Hobbs” men in this family. That’s a good thing, wouldn’t you say?

There are, and that’s what we’re trying to build here: an emphasis on family. The world is about to end, and who do you have to lean on? Your family.

The Hobbs family is Samoan — a group of people rarely exposed in-depth on film. Did you feel you had to make sure you represented properly for the culture?

Not really. I represent for the culture in everything I do. One obvious way we represent is how we wear our ink and tattoos. We take a lot of pride in that.

Hobbs & Shaw Writer Describes Bringing Roman Reigns Into The Fast & Furious Franchise

July 15th 2019
WWE Superstar Roman Reigns is set to make his Hollywood film debut next month with the release of Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw on Aug. 2. The former WWE Champion will play the role of Mateo Hobbs, a relative of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Luke Hobbs, and is expected to play a big role in the film’s actions scenes in the latter half of the movie.

Chris Morgan, who has been writing each installment of the Fast & Furious franchise since Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift in 2006, spoke with ComicBook.com on the red carpet of the film’s world premiere in Hollywood, California on Saturday night and brought up integrating Reigns into the film. Morgan brought up how, at the time of filming, Reigns was still in his battle with leukemia that kept him out of action in WWE from October 2018-March 2019.

In a recent interview with ComicBook, Reigns described what it was like working alongside his cousin on the set of the film. continue reading

WWE star Roman Reigns gets his first taste of Hollywood with ‘Hobbs & Shaw | AOL.com Interview

July 1, 2o19 AOL.COM

Joe Anoa’i’s career as a WWE superstar requires him to play a character on television and at live events hundreds of times a year. Whenever Anoa’i is performing for fans as Roman Reigns, he’s not just pulling off impressive athletic feats, he’s also playing a role.

The task of acting on a weekly — and often nightly —  basis is what makes crossing over into Hollywood a much more seamless affair for professional wrestlers. Major WWE stars like Anoa’i’s cousin, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, John Cena and Dave Bautista have all parlayed those skills into careers as blockbuster movie stars.

Now, Anoa’i is getting his chance to try his hand in Hollywood and was thrown head-first into one of the biggest film franchises of all time, starring alongside Johnson in “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.”

“Within WWE we kind of use a bunch of different disciplines in performing arts,” Anoa’i told AOL. “Where I’m at right now, the huge difference for me would be comparing [film] to the live performance. It’s what is so addicting about sports entertainment, about WWE, about professional wrestling, you get your feedback immediately. It’s very cool to be able to create a world within feature films, television. To build a role and then completely change from character to character. I like all of the different changes between the genres of film.” continue reading
